Katmandu Sophia of Pien Ji
Sophia was my first show quality Shih Tzu (though I had a neutered, pet quality one before her.) I got her from Carole Delaney (Katmandu). Carole thought she was too shy to show, though she is a very nice little girl. She got over being shy, but never liked showing. She would go in the ring and drop her tail- which doesn’t do at all. Sophia loved puppies and was a very good mother. Her first litter was from a breeding to JoAnn Gustafson's Topper (CH Hai-Sing's Top of the Line), and produced five lovely puppies, as did the second litter, which was a repeat breeding. Two of Sophia's daughters, Pien Ji's Mimosa Silk and Katmandu Dream Girl went to the ring- Mimi won American Bred at the Golden Gate Shih Tzu Fanciers Specialty, and with her sister, Dreamy (Dreamy went to Carole Delaney), won Best Brace at Nationals and the Puget Sound Shih Tzu Fancier's Specialty, and Toy Group one brace at the Olympic Kennel Club show. Her 2004 litter to CH Ningsia's Chun Kee Bob produced three darling boys- Pien Ji's Chun Kee Mun Kee (Blue) is showing, and the other boys are in perfect homes! Blue has done quite well for having such a novice showing him. And her last litter produced Pien Ji's Lolli Doll and Pien Ji's Rock on Sammy Whammy. I am showing Lolli, and Sammy went to Sally and Jed Thomas. Sophia is now neutered, and the pampered pet she was meant to be, and now lives with Avram & Dvora who treat her as the queen of the manor she was always meant to be. She goes running with Avram every day and loves being the queen of the house.
